Skaftafell National Park

I'd been looking forward to the glacier hike from day 1.  Today was the day and again an early start on a very cold and windy morning.  Off we went to the park to the Falljökull Glacier. Crampons and harness fitted, ice axe in hand' off we went! What a great experience!! Obviously, you need the experts to keep you from falling into a crevasse. but it's very enjoyable.

After our hike, off we went to see the sea stacks, black beaches and cliffs. The architecture produced by the sudden cooling of lava in the Atlantic ocean is very dramatic. I was, however, was unprepared for the 67 mile per hour gusts of wind and struggled to keep upright! Still, it was all worth it, the scenery is just breathtaking.
