Riva Trigoso to Sestri Levante
Today was a "rest" day. We walked 8 km from the center of Riva Trigoso to Sestri Levante in what is considered off the beaten path in the fishing towns of Liguria. Riva Trigoso has one of the oldest and largest shipyards in Italy. Not as touristy as the Cinque Terre, Sestri Levante boasts the same multicoloured houses, medieval churches and local charm with only a few tourists walking the routes. It is fast becoming popular with the Italian tourists so a new town is developing next to the old town.
Hiking this path is not difficult and the views from Punta Manara are postcard pretty. The other hikers wanted to spend the afternoon at the beach (water is far too cold for me and I never lie out) so I just had a wander only to remember everything is shut till four or later. Oh well. I guess it's time for another aperol!
