Hello Cinque Terre!

I've just arrived in the Ligurian section of Italy, the Cinque Terre, which means five lands. It encompasses centuries old villages on the rugged coastline of the Italian Riviera. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site where serpentine paths intersect vertiginous cliffs overseeing colourful towns and busy fishing harbours.

For many centuries walking trails were the only means of travel between the villages and to the outside world. I will be hiking these paths over the next few days and write about my experiences on this blog.
