Porto Venere

                        Porto Venere

Our last day of hiking was spent in Porto Venere, on the Ligurian coast. There are three islands next to the port: Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto.  We had a stroll around the island of Palmaria (those high steps on wobbly stones are everywhere), enjoyed the views and had a picnic lunch.  The weather could not have been more perfect.

Picnic lunch looking out to Tino.

          Riomaggiore from the shuttle boat

                            Vernazza

Monterosso. You can hike on the hilltops.

On the way back to Moneglia, we took the boat to see the Cinque Terre by sea.  Honestly, it was quite touristy, even in October, so I cannot even begin to imagine how crowded it gets in the winter. But being Italy, the friendly people, great food, a few aperols and a lot more gelato, it makes you accept that this beautiful part of Italy will never be kept secret from travellers.

Some maps of our hikes. I had some app and signal problems so they are incomplete but just to give you some ideas.

My gelato moments over the week.

                       Ciao!!

What a wonderful way to end the trip! Easily, one of the most beautiful week long hikes I've been on. Check it out!
