Why Are The Roast Chickens In Verbier So Delicious?

The roast chickens you can purchase at the butchers in Verbier are extremely popular.  For local inhabitants and tourists finding themselves in a situation where it is the chalet chef's day off (yes, even at high weekly rates the chefs take a day off, a Swiss thing) , this is one of the go to meals to be had.  Now making a roast chicken is not difficult but somehow it is just hard to beat the flavour these chickens offer.

I don't think you can get the butchers to part with their secret recipes since there is much money to be had by charging the masses with $20-25 dollar birds (it takes 3 to feed my hungry family).  But if I might hazard a guess (and I could be very wrong) it's because they have been slathered with this before roasting:

The goodness of monosodium glutamate, lactose, hydrogenated vegetable oils, amongst other things, truly packs a memorable flavour that is difficult to replicate. A gastronomic experience that one keeps going back to. Yum and double yum.  Now I off to make a few side dishes since one chicken is certainly not enough to feed three.

By the way, the weather and snow was amazing today and it is now going to bucket down with snow the next few days.
