Yakitori Hits the Spot!
Yakitori Hits The Spot!
Finally we're off. Terminal 2 is brand new, sparkling clean, and pretty quiet. There's a Heston, a Leon, Yo Sushi, the usual suspects, brand name shops, etc.
The flight was better than expected, new planes, good staff and Anna and I experimented with the Japanese dinner and breakfast, versus the German menu on offer. Quite unusual (God knows what it all was) but we ate it all, anyway.
After figuring out the subway system, we went off to Mitsukoshi (still the best, of course) in Ginza (the Knightsbridge of Tokyo) to check out the food halls. Amazing! Every kind of sushi, tonkatsu, maki, yakitori, and so forth and so on. Beautifully presented food all around (Anna and I got desperately hungry going around but you cannot eat in shops, transport or walking around in Japan) and we just had to search for a restaurant in panic after a few minutes here.
And we found a yakitori bar in some basement with the locals. Don't ask the name, we could not figure out what it was (all in characters) and we had no idea where we were except somewhere in Ginza, but it was enjoyable!
Tomorrow is a big day!
