Utah Day 1
After our drive through Arizona we finally arrive in Utah. It’s not a bad drive, under 3 hours. Our first hiking destination is Zion National Park.
But before we get to our camp, we decided to do the Butterfly loop and clamber up some hills. Why not?
The iron in the stones give the hills a nice burnt orange colour interspersed with white stones and black lava. This used to be volcanic 27,000 years ago.
Weather was nice and warm during the day but would drop by nightfall. Fortunately there is a lot of grip in the stone so it’s not so intimidating to climb up.
We head off to our Under The Canvas tent and it’s ok. Wood burning stove and battery pack chargers. Hard to shower pulling on a cord but lots of hot water. The views were amazing. It’s been a fun first day!
