When In Rome…Day 2 Thimphu
This month is full of Bhutanese Buddhist festivals and we went to quite a big one today in Thimphu. We attended one celebrating the 2nd Buddha Guru Rimpoche’s teachings and life events. Wearing traditional dress (they tie it tight!) we attended the packed fortress venue to watch the dances. It was a very colourful affair, full of Buddhist positivity and calmness.

View of Thimphu from the hills
We saw the big golden Buddha (50 plus metres) and the temple, saw the valley views of the capital from the hillside, checked out the national animal takin, and looked through traditional handicrafts. Not exactly a challenging hiking day but a cultural one.
Tomorrow we are off to do the Divine Madman’s Trail!
