Starting My Sicilian Adventure

It seems that I keep going back to Italy yearly for a trek but why not?! It' so enjoyable I just can't resist going back.  The cuisine is great, there's an abundance of culture and history, the people are handsome, and the climate is wonderful. Plus in Sicily, for my mountain fix, there is Mount Etna, of course. Over 4/5ths of the island is mountainous, so there's a lot of hiking to be done.

May seems to be a nice time to travel there.  It's not too hot and you aren't plagued by mosquitoes.  I have a love/hate relationship with mosquitoes.  They love me and I hate them! Also Sicily being the largest island in the Mediterranean, there will be nice sea vistas wherever you go, without it being too crowded or sweltering.

I didn't decide early enough to be able to join one of the Backroads trips I so enjoy, so instead, I am going solo, organised by Path tours (Italian specialists) with guides and transport. I'm off today and will write my blog daily, as per my normal modus operandi, so come join me on my adventure. It'll be fun (and fattening). Ciao!
