What An End To The Summer!
Soooo... summer is finally over and I am planning my new adventures!
As well as the wonderful South African safari I wrote about in the last entry, I also made it to the Philippines for a few days, sampled local fruit I had missed and caught up with old friends.
lanzones (tastes sort of like a lychee)
pink dragon fruit (much sweeter than the white)
I finished the summer in Mauritius. This year (my 11th time, lucky me!) the weather was much warmer and consistent, it was absolutely wonderful. The Saint Geran (One and Only) is pretty much the same and it needs the refurb it's getting next year. The Royal Palm is another place we've stayed at and it too is very nice, though I haven't been back since their refurbishment. The teenagers wanted to be surrounded by other teenagers and wanted a band/bar so we returned yearly to the One and Only.
Little snack lunch. Dinner is a much bigger affair and it's good.
unlimited water sports
I have been planning my trip with one of my best mates, Liz, to Machu Picchu next May and we are finalising the details. We are really excited to be doing that. Still waiting to hear what is happening on Everest and if they have cleared the paths and rebuilt the lodges. I think Katmandu might need a bit more time to recover.
Meanwhile, off to Hong Kong on Sunday! I think this year I might do a little Hong Kong blog. It will be all about food!
